About the event
From 25th - 27th October, City Arts Portsmouth will host the Portsmouth Open Studios Event 2024, celebrating local creativity and community. As part of this, our talented residents of the Pay Office will showcase their diverse range of creative disciplines, presenting their work and giving live demonstrations. This is an exciting opportunity to explore the intersection of art, heritage, and community in a unique historic setting. Among the artists and makers participating are:
Cat Askew: An interdisciplinary artist known for her humorous and satirical social commentary, often working with text-based art, painting, and found objects.
Clarke Reynolds: A renowned blind artist whose tactile Braille-based work fosters accessibility discussions in the creative industry.
Katy Bennett (Home Of The Good Chair): Revives vintage chairs with her skillful weaving, using natural materials to give old furniture new life.
Sally Biloshiskaya (Petal & Pchelka): A floral designer transforming spaces with her luxurious floral installations, bringing a calming atmosphere to every setting.
Pippa Charlesworth: A site-specific artist who explores the materiality and history of spaces, blending photography and found objects to evoke meaning from the environment.
Sally Tyrie: A fine artist focusing on printmaking and mixed media, her work explores themes of absence and transience, often connected to derelict or decaying spaces.
Sasha Biloshisky: A movement artist, educator, and B-boy whose career has spanned prestigious stages worldwide, inspiring creativity through Hip-Hop.
Thomas Buckley: Works with immersive technology to create art exploring memory and sensory experiences, often using mixed reality.
Spencer (ZooPoo): A screen printer continually evolving his artistic style and devising workshops and activities to teach his craft at the PlayOffice.
